COUMBE CEMETERY
Catalogued May 1, 1975 by H. A. Dieter. Located on the present C.
F. Chitwood farm three fourths mile west of Junction Wisconsin 60 and
County Trunk X in section 35, Town of Richwood. Turn north one-half
mile to cemetery. The name gives honor to the first family to settle in
this area, John and Sarah Coumbe. The grounds are in fair condition
but with many unidentified graves and several broken markers. The first
known burial was in 1853. The locale clearly identifies with the early
migration from the south to the Wisconsin River area stretching
northward.
